⭐ THE WIZARD OF OZ – WEST END RETURN ANNOUNCED – GILLIAN LYNNE THEATRE – AUGUST 2024 – STARRING ASTON MERRYGOLD & THE VIVIENNE ⭐
The critically-acclaimed musical revival of THE WIZARD OF OZ will return to the West End, it has been announced.
Michael Harrison and the Really Useful Group are thrilled to announce that THE WIZARD OF OZ will conclude its major UK & Ireland tour with a season in London this summer, playing a strictly limited run of 38 performances only, at the Gillian Lynne Theatre.
This new production of the beloved musical, based on the iconic story by L. Frank Baum, also announces initial casting for London today. Starring JLS star Aston Merrygold as The Tin Man and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner and Dancing on Ice finalist The Vivienne as The Wicked Witch of the West.
They will be joined in the West End by principal company members currently starring in the UK & Ireland touring production, including Aviva Tulley (The Book of Mormon) as Dorothy, Benjamin Yates (Jersey Boys) as The Scarecrow, Nic Greenshields (Les Misérables) as The Cowardly Lion and Abigail Matthews (Bleak Expectations) as Toto. Further casting to be announced.
Featuring the iconic original score from the Oscar-winning MGM film, including Over The Rainbow, Follow The Yellow Brick Road and We’re Off To See the Wizard – with additional songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice – this spectacular production will be a truly magical experience for all the family.
THE WIZARD OF OZ is directed by Nikolai Foster, featuring choreography by Shay Barclay, set design by Colin Richmond, projection design by Douglas O’Connell, costume & puppet design by Rachael Canning, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Adam Fisher, creative consultant Mark Kaufman, musical direction & supervision by George Dyer, casting by Debbie O’Brien, props supervision by Marcus Hall Props, and wigs, hair & makeup design by Elizabeth Marini.
THE WIZARD OF OZ will play the Gillian Lynne Theatre, running from 15th August – 8th September 2024, with tickets on sale now.
