Initial casting for the highly anticipated revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods has been revealed.
The new production will star Julian Bleach (The Grinning Man) as Mysterious Man, Audrey Brisson (Amélie) as Cinderella, Nicola Hughes (Fosse) as the Witch, Rhashan Stone (All About Eve) as the Baker and Alex Young (Follies) as the Baker’s Wife.
They will be joined by Gillian Bevan as Jack’s mother, Nathanael Campbell as the Wolf/the Prince, Maria Conneely who will make her musical theatre debut as Rapunzel, Lauren Conroy who will make her professional stage debut as Little Red Riding Hood, Phoebe Fildes as Lucinda, Samuel Holmes as the Steward, Charlotte Jaconelli as Florinda, Henry Jenkinson making his UK theatre debut as the Prince, and Barney Wilkinson as Jack.
This imaginative and delightfully playful new production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods arrives as a timely celebration of the late composer’s remarkable impact on musical theatre.
A dark and humorous twist on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical interweaves everyone’s favourite storybook characters into a timeless, yet relevant, piece. Featuring the much loved songs “Children Will Listen”, “Stay With Me” and “No One Is Alone”.
Presented by Scenario Two and Theatre Royal Bath Productions, this eagerly anticipated production of Into The Woods brings together a world-class, multi award-winning creative team including iconic stage and film director Terry Gilliam, co-director and choreographer Leah Hausman, designer Jon Bausor, costume designer Antony McDonald, video designer Will Duke, sound designer Paul Groothuis, and casting director David Grindrod.
Into the Woods has music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine.
Into The Woods will play the Theatre Royal Bath, running from 17th August – 10th September 2022.
