⭐ GARETH SNOOK TO STAR AS WILLY WONKA IN CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY – THE MUSICAL REVIVAL ⭐
Gareth Snook will star as Willy Wonka in the upcoming revival of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – The Musical, it has been announced.
Snook recently starred in the critically-acclaimed musical, Romantics Anonymous.
His other credits include Monsieur André in The Phantom of the Opera at both Her Majesty’s Theatre and the 25th Anniversary production at the Royal Albert Hall and Les Misérables in the West End.
The new revival will play a Christmas season at Leeds Playhouse from 18th November 2022 – 28th January 2023, before heading out on a UK & Ireland tour.
This revival is a brand new production from Leeds Playhouse, coming after previous successful productions in the West End and on Broadway.
The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factor but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator, all to be revealed by Wonka’s army of curious Oompa-Loompas.
Based on the famous novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an original score composed by Marc Shaiman, with lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and a book by David Greig.
Memorable songs from the beloved 1971 film are also set to be featured.
This new production is set to be directed by Leeds Playhouse artistic director James Brining.
