⭐ FIDDLER ON THE ROOF FILM ADAPTATION ANNOUNCED – DIRECTED BY HAMILTON’S THOMAS KAIL ⭐
MGM will adapt the iconic stage musical Fiddler On The Roof for the big screen, it has been announced.
It will be directed by Tony Award-winning director Thomas Kail, known for directing the off-Broadway and Broadway collaborations with Lin-Manuel Miranda of In the Heights and Hamilton.
Steven Levenson will write the script for the new feature film adaptation.
The musical features music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and book by Joseph Stein, and the original was directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins.
The original Broadway production won nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score of a Musical, Best Director and Best Choreographer.
The musical was previously adapted for the big screen, with the 1964 Norman Jewison-directed film with Topol playing Tevye. The film won three Oscars out of eight nominations.
