CAMERON MACKINTOSH CONFIRMS CHANGES TO WEST END PRODUCTION OF THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

⭐ CAMERON MACKINTOSH CONFIRMS CHANGES TO WEST END PRODUCTION OF THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA ⭐

Cameron Mackintosh has commented on the re-opening of the West End production of The Phantom of the Opera.

Talking to Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye the super producer confirmed that Killian Donnelly would take the lead in, what he called, “a completely new version” of the brilliant original, which was “tried out” at the Curve in Leicester back in February this year.

He continued “How you create theatre, even though it might look the same, is very different from what it was 34 years ago…We’ve learned to do things in different ways.”

When asked about changes to the show Mackintosh replied that there were some “very spectacular sequences” created by the late Maria Bjornson for the original production that were never used, such as “a horse that she dreamt of”, which will now feature in the show and that there will also be a brand new chandelier.

LW Theatres have already carried out extensive building work inside Her Majesty’s Theatre during the shutdown. In addition, the production’s systems and automation have been replaced as they were no longer fit for purpose.

Previews are planned for 5th June 2020, subject to social distancing measures being lifted.

I think the main bulk of “changes” are modernising the production, considering the age of the original production. I’m sure it’ll be brilliant, I look forward to seeing it! ! !
