⭐ WICKED – SWEDISH PREMIERE – NON-REPLICA PRODUCTION ANNOUNCED FOR GOTHENBURG OPERA HOUSE ⭐
This Swedish premiere of the smash-hit musical WICKED has been announced.
The Gothenburg Opera House production will be the largest ever of WICKED, with an expanded orchestra, large ensemble and breathtaking scenery.
WICKED tells the tale of the two witches of Oz before Dorothy dropped in on them in the classic MGM musical The Wizard of Oz. Find out how Elphaba and Glinda met and became the Wicked Witch and the Good Witch respectively. A tale of social exclusion, courage and love, told with magic, fantasy and wonderful music, featuring the iconic “Defying Gravity”.
Starring Anna Salonen as Glinda, Feline Andersson making her debut as Elphaba, Vera Veljovic as Madame Morrible, Max Jansson as Fiyero, Sofia Mustaniemi as Nessarose, Oskar H Olsson as Boq, Ole Forsberg as The Wizard of Oz and David Lundqvist as Dr. Dillamond.
Featuring Johanna Abenius, Tobias Ahlsell, Jesper Blomberg, Albin Boudrée, Hanna Boquist, Jonathan Böiers, Julia Carlström, Lara Eide, Hampus Engstrand, Julia Forssell, Timothy Garnham, Marie , Rasmus Hanák, Tova Hollender, Henrik Jöneby, Matilda Karlsson, Jakob Bobbi Lindahl, Hanna Lindblad, Christofer Lindström, Christoffer Löwenadler, Karin Mårtenson Ghods, Alecsander Javier Nilsson, Freja Pennsäter, Kajsa Petersson, Robert Sillberg, Oscar Sundling Wallin, Lina Svahn Larsson and Veronika Wallentin.
This production of WICKED is directed by Samuel Harjanne, featuring conductor & musical director Björn Dobbelaere, conductors Joakim Hallin & Sofia Winiarski, choreography by Gunilla Olsson Karlsson, set & costume design takis, lighting design by Niklas Elfvengren, sound design by Dennis Barkevall and video design by PXLFLD.
Wicked is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and is one of the world’s most popular musicals. The original Broadway production premiered in 2003 and has since played for 7,000 performances. The show opened in London’s West End three years later.
WICKED has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, with a book by Winnie Holzman. Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire. Swedish translation by Calle Norlén.
WICKED will play the Gothenburg Opera House, running from 16th September 2023 – 24th April 2024, with tickets on sale now.
