⭐ THE LAST SHIP – INTERNATIONAL TOUR ANNOUNCED – STARRING STING ⭐
17-time Grammy Award winning artist Sting will lead a new international tour of his musical THE LAST SHIP, it has been announced.
The global icon will star in a renewed version of THE LAST SHIP, the acclaimed musical first developed by Sting in 2011 and initially inspired by his 1991 album The Soul Cages.
The tour will be heading to Amsterdam, Paris and Brisbane, with further dates to be announced.
THE LAST SHIP will star Sting as Jackie White, Declan Bennett as Gideon, Lauren Samuels as Meg, and Annette McClaughlin as Peggy White.
Also starring Marc Akinfolarin, Cassiopeia Berkeley-Agyepong, Matt Beveridge, Joe Caffrey, Mathew Craig, Matthew Gent, Llandyll Gove, Lou Henry, Helen Hill, Lemuel Knights, Grant Neal, Hannah Richardson, Gabrielle Stylianou, Emma Thornett and Kevin Yates, with further casting to be announced.
Rooted in his own childhood in the British shipbuilding town of Wallsend, THE LAST SHIP tells the moving story of a community of shipbuilders in the northeast of England, faced with the closure of their shipyard – the heart of their existence.
Sting’s music – from raw folk and rousing choirs to intimate ballads – forms the beating heart of the production. THE LAST SHIP is a true musical odyssey carried by powerful and moving melodies and lyrics with well-known songs such as “Island of Souls”, “All This Time” and “When We Dance” interwoven.
This revised production will feature a new book by Barney Norris, from a book by Lorne Campbell, based on an original book by John Logan & Brian Yorkey.
THE LAST SHIP will be directed by Leo Warner, with set & video design by 59 Studio, set & props design by Jenny Melville, costume design by Loren Elstein, lighting design by Adam Bassett, sound design by Tom Gibbons, animation direction by Matt Taylor, choreography by Rebecca Howell, video design by Benjamin Pearcy, musical supervision & orchestratations by Ron Mathes and musical direction & co-orchestrations by Richard John.
