A world premiere of the brand new musical adaptation of Victoria Hislop’s THE ISLAND has been announced.
Based on the international bestselling novel, THE ISLAND comes to the stage in a new musical adaptation, receiving its world premiere at The Mill at Sonning.
From the award-winning creative team behind The Mill at Sonning’s acclaimed production of MY FAIR LADY, this extraordinary new actor-muso musical reveals a hidden family history, long-buried secrets and a love story that echoes across generations.
Set against the sun-drenched beauty and emotional intensity of the Greek islands, THE ISLAND is a sweeping theatrical journey of identity, courage, sacrifice and the unbreakable bonds that shape who we are – brought vividly to life through soaring music, powerful drama and unforgettable storytelling.
THE ISLAND is being developed with ambitions far beyond The Mill, with West End and Broadway as the goal and a UK tour aiming for 2028.
THE ISLAND will be directed by Joseph Pitcher, featuring musical arrangements & orchestrations by Charles Ingles, with compositions by Simon Arrowsmith, adapted by Duncan Abel, based on the international bestselling novel by Victoria Hislop.
THE ISLAND will play The Mill at Sonning, running from 10th June – 15th August 2027, with tickets on sale now.
