Award-winning writer Allan Knee’s ballroom-inspired play SYNCOPATION is coming to London this Spring, it has been announced.
1912 New York and ballroom dancing halls are filled with the syncopated beats of ragtime music. Meatpacker Henry is seeking a new dance partner and when seamstress Anna responds to his advertisement, life takes an unexpected turn. Allan Knee’s award winning two-person drama is a fascinating blend of theatre, music and dance.
The UK premiere production will star West-End and Broadway performers Devon-Elise Johnson (Half a Sixpence, Mamma Mia, Titanic), and Jye Frasca (Wicked, Jersey Boys, Mary Poppins).
This is a unique version of SYNCOPATION, with a carefully curated Ragtime and jazz score specifically selected for the London production, including classics like By the Light of the Silvery Moon and Little Brown Jug, Scott Joplin’s Elite Syncopations and Irving Berlin’s Always.
SYNCOPATION is written by Allan Knee, presented by Manilla Street Productions, directed by Karen Jemison, featuring choreography by Jenny Thomas, musical direction byFiz Shapur, costume & set design by Mayou Trikerioti, lighting design by Joseph Ed Thomas and sound design by Beth Duke.
SYNCOPATION will play Bridewell Theatre, running from 14th March – 13th April 2024, with tickets on sale now.
