⭐ SUNNY AFTERNOON – THE KINKS MUSICAL – ORIGINAL WEST END CAST SET TO REUNITE AT MUSIC FESTIVAL – RUSHFEST ⭐
The original Olivier Award-winning cast of SUNNY AFTERNOON – THE KINKS MUSICAL are set to reunite at the music festival RUSHFEST, it has been announced.
Cast members of the original West End production are set to reunite for the first time in 8 years, to play a full live headline set at music festival RUSHFEST. The set will feature all the songs from the show in a 90 min celebration of a great British rock band and a great piece of British theatre.
John Dagleish, who won the Olivier Award for Best Actor playing Ray Davies in SUNNY AFTERNOON, will be fronting the band once more. Featuring alongside are members of the original West End cast, including George Maguire, Ned Derrington, Adam Sopp, Philip Bird, Elizabeth Hill, Vince Leigh, Ben Caplan, Lillie Flynn, Dominic Tighe, Tam Williams, Amy Ross and Elliott Ware.
SUNNY AFTERNOON – THE KINKS MUSICAL swept the Olivier Awards in 2014, picking up five awards including Best New Musical, for its sell-out run at the Harold Pinter Theatre. The show told the story of British rock legends The Kinks and was written by Joe Penhall, based on a story by Sir Ray Davies and directed by Edward Hall.
RUSHFEST is a one day music festival in the Hertfordshire countryside, returning for its 3rd year. The event is organised by West End stars George Maguire (Bonnie & Clyde) and Rachael Wooding (Standing At The Sky’s Edge).
Other acts set to perform include Anton Stephans (Fisherman’s Friends – The Musical), Charlotte Riby (Jesus Christ Superstar – Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) and Kimberly Blake (Pretty Woman – The Musical), with further acts to be announced.
RUSHFEST will take place at Southern Green, Rushden, Buntingford, on Saturday 2nd September 2023.
