The Stephen Schwartz musical THE BAKER’S WIFE is set for a London revival next year, it has been revealed.
Composer Stephen Schwartz announced the news, at the recent Schwartz At 75 concert, reveling a new revival of the musical will play the Menier Chocolate Factory next summer.
THE BAKER’S WIFE premiered in the West End in 1989 for a short run but, while establishing a dedicated cult following, has not been produced on Broadway. The musical features one of Schwartz’s most beloved songs “Meadowlark”.
THE BAKER’S WIFE has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, with a book by Joseph Stein. Based on the 1938 French film of the same name by Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono.
