⭐ SPRING AWAKENING REVIVAL ANNOUNCED – ALMEIDA THEATRE – STARRING LAURIE KYNASTON & AMARA OKEREKE ⭐
A brand new revival of the musical Spring Awakening will be coming to London, it has been announced.
The revival is coming to the Almeida Theatre this Christmas, in a new production directed by Almeida Theatre’s artistic director – Rupert Goold.
The cast will be lead by Laurie Kynaston and Amara Okereke, with the production also “providing roles for some of the emerging actors who have graduated into an industry with a dearth of opportunities.”
The first London production debuted in 2009 and had a famously short run, even though it went on to win 4 Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical.
The musical is based on the 1891 German play Spring Awakening by Frank Wedekind. Set in late 19th century Germany, it tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of adolescent sexuality.
Spring Awakening is a rock musical with music by Duncan Sheik and a book and lyrics by Steven Sater.
Spring Awakening will play the Almeida Theatre, running from 30th November 2021 – 22nd January 2022.
