⭐ SISTER ACT – THE MUSICAL – WEST END LIVE CAST RECORDING ANNOUNCED ⭐
The West End return of the Olivier Award-nominated SISTER ACT – THE MUSICAL will release a live cast recording later this year, it has been announced.
The cast album will be recorded over three performances at the Dominion Theatre, 27th – 29th May 2024, with the current company.
The recording will be the first English-language recording of the revised and now licensed version of the musical.
Producer Jamie Wilson commented: “Today is a monumental moment for Sister Act! Ever since we first brought this brand-new production back to the West End, the number one question we’ve had is ‘When is the cast album?’ Based on the show’s triumphant success in London and to celebrate the news that there will be five productions of our new version around the world this year, we had to make this happen. We are so excited for you to hear this live album this summer.”
The cast is led by Olivier Award winner Beverley Knight as Deloris Van Cartier, with Gavin & Stacey star Ruth Jones making her West End debut as Mother Superior, Lesley Joseph as Sister Mary Lazarus, Brit Award-winning singer Lemar as Curtis Jackson, Olivier Award winner Clive Rowe as Eddie Souther, West End favorite Lizzie Bea as Sister Mary Robert, Olivier Award nominee Alison Jiear as Sister Mary Patrick and Regent Park’s La Cage aux Folles star Carl Mullaney as Monsignor O’Hara.
The cast also includes Caroline Bateson, Natalia Brown, Damian Buhagiar, Tricia Deighton, Lori Haley Fox, Lauren Hall, Chloe Hopcroft, Tom Hopcroft, Bradley Judge, Claudia Kariuki, Graham MacDuff, Castell Parker, Emma Ralston, Anne Smith, Michael Ward, and Jermaine Woods.
Number one best-selling artist and musical theatre star Alexandra Burke, will takeover the role of Deloris Van Cartier from 10th June – 31st August 2024.
Based on the iconic movie, this sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, sisterhood and music tells the hilarious story of the disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found – a convent! Disguised as a nun and under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.
Directed by Bill Buckhurst, with choreography by Alistair David, set & costume design by Morgan Large, musical direction by Neil MacDonald, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, sound design by Tom Marshall, musical supervision by Stephen Brooker and casting by Stuart Burt.
