The world premiere of Seize The Cheese! A New Musical has been announced for New Wimbledon Theatre.
Announced as part of their 2023 Premieres season this autumn, New Wimbledon Theatre will premiere three new productions in their studio space including, the full version of monodrama Black to the Future, initially developed as part of a Lyric Hammersmith emerging writers programme in 2019 and, two brand spanking new musicals.
This is the third annual, three-show Premieres season presented by the venue, which aims
to provide a starting point for, and to help facilitate companies in, fully staging their work for the first time. Selected from an overwhelming number of submissions, New Wimbledon Theatre are thrilled to present their first musicals as part of the season, as well as their first conceptual monodrama.
Finishing the line-up and playing in November is an exuberant leap into self-discovery and multiple fractures, Seize The Cheese! A New Musical.
Who will Seize The Cheese?! In this uplifting comedy, loosely inspired by the world-famous cheese-rolling in Gloucestershire, people plummet down a deadly hill in pursuit of a speeding Double Gloucester cheese. Anarchic and hilarious, it’s the “English Book of Mormon”, according to one critic.
With sumptuous songs by Patrick Steed and Mike Stocks, it features gorgeous and unforgettable characters who all have their deeper reasons for risking life and limb for, er, cheese. After all, eventually in life, you just have to leap!
Seize The Cheese! A New Musical will play the Studio at New Wimbledon Theatre, running from 2nd – 11th November 2023, with tickets on sale now.
