A staged concert of AYLA – A NEW MUSICAL has been announced.
AYLA – A NEW MUSICAL will be a staged musical concert to showcase the outstanding music and bring you the outline of the story as the musical continues its development, in preparation of its planned full stage debut in Autumn 2024.
AYLA – A NEW MUSICAL tells the story of a young woman who questions her own traditions and the powers that be, willing to sacrifice everything she holds dear to fight for a better future for her people and the planet, one that will safeguard the natural world and the delicate ecosystem in which they live.
Its central themes of love overcoming adversity, societal injustice, and man’s impact on the natural world have a powerful contemporary resonance.
Starring Olivier Award winner Sam Tutty (Dear Evan Hansen) as Mohr, Sha Dessi (Les Misérables) as Ayla and singer-songwriter Arlissa as Sindah.
Featuring dancers Jemima Brown as Kogallisk and Ru Fisher as Pana.
Accompanied by a 5-piece band comprised of Fabio Staffieri (Guitar & Mandolin), Mykey Kew (Electric Guitar & Keys), James Reddick (Winds & Ethnic Flutes), Kotono Sato (Cello & Violin) and Valerio La Piana (Percussions & Drums).
The show is directed & choreographed by award-winning choreographer Eleesha Drennan. Produced by Academy Award nominated producer Giovanna Romagnoli and Gianluca Cucchiara.
AYLA – A NEW MUSICAL has music, written & arranged by award-winning composer Gianluca Cucchiara, with lyrics by award-winning lyricist Andrew James Whelan.
AYLA – A NEW MUSICAL will play the Lillian Baylis Studio Theatre at Sadlers Wells, on Saturday 21st October 2023 – 3:30pm & 7pm, with tickets on sale now.
