Murphy directed the film version of The Normal Heart, which was released in 2014.

The Normal Heart is a largely autobiographical play by Larry Kramer. It focuses on the rise of the HIV/AIDS crisis in New York City between 1981 and 1984, as seen through the eyes of writer/activist Ned Weeks, the gay founder of a prominent HIV advocacy group.

The Destiny of Me is a play by Larry Kramer. The play follows Ned Weeks, a character from Kramer’s play The Normal Heart, as he checks into the National Institutes of Health to undergo an experimental treatment for AIDS.

A brilliant idea to introduce Larry Kramer’s work to new audiences. I’ve only seen the film version of The Normal Heart, which I thought was brilliant. I would love to see in on stage.
