The musical The Prom is reportedly be heading to the West End, it has been rumoured.
The Tony Award-nominated musical will reportedly be coming to the West End sometime next year. No further details are available yet.
The Prom tells the story of an Indiana high schooler barred from bringing her girlfriend to the prom—and the group of eccentric Broadway folk who infiltrate the town in an earnest, misguided attempt to fight the injustice.
The Prom was also adapted into a movie musical for Netflix, starring Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman, Keegan-Michael Key, Andrew Rannells, Ariana DeBose, Tracey Ullman, Kevin Chamberlin, Mary Kay Place, Kerry Washington and Jo Ellen Pellman.
The Broadway production was also directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Dreamgirls).
The Prom has music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Bob Martin and Beguelin, based on an original concept by Jack Viertel.
