⭐ RUMOUR – SPRING AWAKENING REVIVAL SET FOR AUTUMN 2021 – ALMEIDA THEATRE – DIRECTED BY RUPERT GOOLD ⭐
A brand new revival of the musical Spring Awakening will be coming to London – Autumn 2021, it is rumoured.
The revival is rumoured to be heading to Almeida Theatre later this year, in a new production directed by Almeida Theatre’s artistic director – Rupert Goold.
A revival of Spring Awakening was first rumoured to hit London last summer but I imagine it was postponed like many other productions were, due to the pandemic.
The first London production debuted in 2009 and had a famously short run, even though it went on to win 4 Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical.
The musical is based on the 1891 German play Spring Awakening by Frank Wedekind. Set in late 19th century Germany, it tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of adolescent sexuality.
Spring Awakening is a rock musical with music by Duncan Sheik and a book and lyrics by Steven Sater.
I was hoping this was still going to happen! ! !
