⭐ RUMOUR – JONATHAN BAILEY & ARIANA GRANDE TO STAR IN SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE REVIVAL ⭐

A new London revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE has been rumoured.

According to Deadline, Tony Award and Olivier Award winner Marianne Elliott is set to direct a new London revival, at the Barbican Theatre in 2027.

The new production would reportedly be led by Olivier Award winner Jonathan Bailey as Georges, alongside global pop superstar Ariana Grande as Dot. Both can be currently seen co-starring in the film adaptation of the musical Wicked.

One of the most acclaimed musicals of all time – Sondheim and Lapine’s masterpiece follows painter Georges Seurat in the months leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Consumed by his need to “finish the hat“, Seurat alienates the French bourgeoisie, spurns his fellow artists, and neglects his lover Dot, not realising that his actions will reverberate over the next 100 years.

Recipient of the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE is a shimmering musical celebration of “the art of making art.”

SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE has music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, with a book by James Lapine. Originally directed on Broadway by James Lapine.

Would be absolutely incredible if this comes to fruition! ! !
