PRIDE – STAGE MUSICAL ADAPTATION IN DEVELOPMENT

⭐ PRIDE – STAGE MUSICAL ADAPTATION IN DEVELOPMENT ⭐

The 2014 film Pride, directed by Matthew Warchus, it being developed into a musical, it has been revealed.

Old Vic Artistic Director Matthew Warchus revealed that his critically-acclaimed film Pride, written by Stephen Beresford, is being adapted into a stage musical.

Warchus commented, in a recent interview, when asked about the film: “When I was sent the screenplay, my immediate reply was that I’d love to do it and are the stage adaptation rights available as it should be a musical… We are working on the musical now. Stephen Beresford, who wrote the screenplay, has written the adaptation already and we have songwriters working on it who are already delivering material. So this is becoming a reality.”

Pride is based on a true story, depicting a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to help families affected by the British miners’ strike in 1984, at the outset of what would become the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners campaign.

The film starred Imelda Staunton, Andrew Scott, Bill Nighy, Paddy Constantine, Dominic West, George Mackay and others.

This has been on the bubble for a long time, I’m glad it’s still happening! ! !
