⭐ OUR HOUSE – NYMT – ANNOUNCED FOR SOUTHWARK PLAYHOUSE ELEPHANT – SUMMER 2024 ⭐
The National Youth Music Theatre will stage the Olivier Award-winning musical OUR HOUSE this summer, it has been announced.
The musical was announced as part of the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT) 2024 summer season, which will debut at Southwark Playhouse Elephant, performed by the remarkable Young Company Members of NYMT 2024, who are 10 – 23 years old.
OUR HOUSE with music and lyrics by the iconic British band Madness (with one song, It Must Be Love, written by Labi Siffre), and book by playwright Tim Firth is based in 1980s Camden Town. It tells the story of London lad Joe Casey, who, on the night of his sixteenth birthday, takes Sarah, the girl of his dreams, out on their first date. The story then splits into two different paths that Joe could follow.
Featuring a collection of top hits by Madness including House of Fun, Baggy Trousers, Driving in my Car, It Must Be Love and of course Our House, this show is a modern British classic and one we are proud to present, particularly as National Youth Music Theatre, like Madness, are soon to celebrate their 50th anniversary!
OUR HOUSE will be directed by Nick Evans, featuring choreography by Simon Hardwick, musical direction by Lee Freeman, set design by Libby Todd, lighting design by Jamie Platt, sound design by Josh Robins and costume design by Molly Fraser.
OUR HOUSE will play the Southwark Playhouse Elephant, running from 22nd – 24th August 2024, with tickets on sale now.
