A new London revival of Boublil and Schönberg’s Martin Guerre is being planned, it has been announced.

Famed composers of Les Misérables and Miss Saigon, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, announced the news of the return of Martin Guerre, in an recent interview with Australian newspaper The Age.

Boublil and Schönberg revealed that there are plans to relaunch the show in London in 2024, in “a very prestigious theatre”.

Adding that they had been rewriting extensively for the new revival, with Boublil working with a new librettist on the rewrite, Australian Paul Hodge (Clinton – The Musical).

They also revealed that Cameron Mackintosh will not be involved with the new production, adding that he “very graciously gave us back the rights”.

The original West End production of Martin Guerre debuted in 1996 at the Prince Edward Theatre, playing 675 performances, before closing in February 1998. It won the 1997 Olivier Award for Best New Musical.

Martin Guerre has a book by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, lyrics by Alain Boublil, Edward Hardy and Stephen Clark, and music by Claude-Michel Schönberg.
