⭐ KYLE RAMAR FREEMAN, SHARLENE HECTOR, JASON PENNYCOOKE, TENDAI HUMPHREY SITIMA, DANNY BAILEY & EDDIE ELLIOTT TO STAR IN LONDON PREMIERE OF A STRANGE LOOP ⭐
Initial casting has been announced for the London transfer of the Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony Award-winning musical A Strange Loop.
The smash-hit musical is transferring from Broadway to the Barbican Theatre for a one-time-only 12-week limited season from 17th June 2023.
Making his West End debut, Kyle Ramar Freeman – reprising the lead role he played on Broadway – will star as Usher, a young, gay, Black writer who hates his day job, so writes a musical about a young, gay, Black writer who’s writing a musical about a young, gay, Black writer.
He will be joined on stage by an all-British cast of six Thoughts, who are the physical manifestation of Usher’s internal monologue. Playing the Thoughts are Sharlene Hector (Best known for being a lead vocalist for British band Basement Jaxx), Multi-Olivier nominated Jason Pennycooke (Hamilton), Tendai Humphrey Sitima (The Play That Goes Wrong), Danny Bailey (Girl From the North Country) and Eddie Elliott (The Lion King).

A Strange Loop has a book, music, & lyrics by Michael R. Jackson.
Directed by Stephen Brackett, featuring choreography by Raja Feather Kelly, music supervision by Rona Siddiqui, orchestrations by Charlie Rosen, scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Montana Levi Blanco, lighting design by Jen Schriever and sound design by Drew Levy.
A Strange Loop will play the Barbican, running for 12 weeks only, from 17th June – 9th September 2023, with tickets on sale now.
