The cult, smash-hit JULIE – THE MUSICAL has been announced to come to The Other Palace this summer.
Worshipped opera singer, renowned swordswoman, flaming bisexual… Julie D’Aubigny is the 17th century queer icon you’ve probably never heard of.
One of the first public figures to live as an openly bisexual woman, she seduced nuns, duelled multiple men at once, burnt down convents, was bribed by princes, innovated opera – all before she turned 30.
In this original musical from Le Gasp! Productions (Tit Swingers, 2024), Julie’s determination to transcend 17th century ideals prevails in a queer-lead show that celebrates nonconformity and unapologetic chaos.
With characters played by all genders, multiple musical genres and no set instrumentation, JULIE – THE MUSICAL is paving the way to a new era of musical theatre; one that champions accessibility and inclusivity in every way.
As a queer, non-binary and autistic creative, Abey Bradbury’s first ever full-length musical is ambitious and scrappy; bursting at the seams with live music, comedy, tap dancing sword fights, twerking nuns and kazoo choruses.
JULIE – THE MUSICAL is composed by Abey Bradbury (They/she), directed by Conor Dye (He/him), designed by Rebecca Cox (She/her) and presented by Le Gasp! Productions and Croft & Dye Productions.
JULIE – THE MUSICAL will play The Other Palace Studio, running from 13th – 30th June 2024, with tickets on sale now.
