⭐ JOANNA RIDING TO LEAD BUXTON OPERA HOUSE REVIVAL OF GYPSY ⭐
Joanna Riding will star as Mama Rose in the upcoming Buxton Opera House revival of Gypsy, it has been announced.
Winner of two Laurence Olivier Awards, Joanna has worked in television and film and theatre, with numerous West End credits to her name.
Best known for her work in musical theatre, her appearances include: Follies, Billy Elliot, My Fair Lady, Carousel, Guys and Dolls, The Girls, and A Little Night Music.
Gypsy tells the true, humorous and powerful story of the rise to fame of Gypsy Rose Lee, star of 1930s burlesque and her tempestuous relationship with her ambitious mother Rose. Perhaps the best role in any musical, Rose is a force to be reckoned with as she throws all love interest aside, pushing her daughters June and Louise to stardom.
With bitingly witty lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (West Side Story) and iconic music by Jule Styne this is the perfect summer treat, directed by Paul Kerryson.
Truly memorable songs include Let Me Entertain You, Everything’s Coming Up Roses, You Gotta Have a Gimmick and Some People.
Gypsy – A Musical Fable has a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Suggested by memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee. Original production by David Merrick and Leland Hayward. Entire production originally directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins.
Gypsy will play the Buxton Opera House, running from 7th – 24th July 2022, with tickets on sale now.
