JAKE GYLLENHAAL GIVES UPDATE ON WEST END PRODUCTION OF SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE

⭐ JAKE GYLLENHAAL GIVES UPDATE ON WEST END PRODUCTION OF SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE ⭐

Jake Gyllenhaal gave an update on the highly-anticipated West End transfer of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, Sunday In the Park with George.

Originally set for a strictly limited run in 2020 at the Savoy Theatre, it was postponed till 2021 due to the global pandemic. Since then, there have been no updates on the status of the production, with it looking increasingly unlikely to happen this year also.

Speaking in a recent interview with Playbill, Gyllenhaal was asked if the acclaimed production was still coming to the West End, commenting: “Man do I hope so. We’re gonna try. We’re definitely gonna try. It was heartbreaking to cancel…”

One of the most acclaimed musicals of all time – Sondheim and Lapine’s masterpiece follows painter Georges Seurat (Jake Gyllenhaal) in the months leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Consumed by his need to “finish the hat,” Seurat alienates the French bourgeoisie, spurns his fellow artists, and neglects his lover Dot (Annaleigh Ashford), not realising that his actions will reverberate over the next 100 years.

There is a small glimmer of hope then, everything crossed that it does eventually make its way to the West End! ! !
