⭐ IT’S IN THE AIR! – UK PREMIERE OF GERMAN MUSICAL – CAST ANNOUNCED ⭐
The cast for It’s In The Air!, the UK premiere of the hit German musical ‘Es Liegt in der Luft’, has been announced.
The cast will feature four talented performers Meriel Cunningham (a regular performer with Charles Court Opera), Owen Clayton (Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens), Jessica Hope (West Side Story) and Enrico Volpi (Zorro: The Musical in Concert).
The show will be directed by Anna Cabré-Verdiell (The Growth of the Silk, Camden Fringe 2021, Brighton Fringe 2021, co-director of the dance theatre duo ACCA).
With celebrated 20s jazz standards and the first ever lesbian anthem, this showcase will be the UK premiere of the hit German musical Es Liegt in der Luft by composer Mischa Spoliansky and lyricist Marcellus Schiffer in a new exciting and modern English translation.
First performed in 1928 with chanteuse Marlene Dietrich in the starring role, the musical encapsulates the alienation within society and mindless extravagance of Weimar’s inter-war years.
It’s In The Air! at the Hope Mill Theatre is supported by the Spoliansky Trust, Royal Northern College of Music, and The Golsoncott Foundation and features original English translations by West End composer and librettist Steven Edis and original orchestration by young and up and coming composer Celia Denore-Lopez.
