A new musical, GO! THE MUSICAL, has been announced for Upstairs at the Gatehouse.
With rhyme and rhythm comes this musical retelling of the lesser-known part of Exodus. Ancient Egypt arrives in London this summer.
Starring Harel Glazer (The Band’s Visit) as Moses, Alexandra Doar (The Time Traveller’s Wife) as Pharaoh, Rushand Chambers (For Black Boys) as Korach and Ayesha Patel (Lizzie) as Zipporah.
Also featuring Michali Dantes, Dora Gee, Mikko Juan and Noah Sinigaglia.
This production, packed with power and politics, follows a prince’s descent into chaos after freeing his people from Pharaoh –aka his ‘mother’.
Looking through a modern and humorous lens, GO! THE MUSICAL touches on themes of today: politics and the messy reality of political change, differing leadership styles, immigrants and emigrants, the struggle by a generation of unrest to regain equilibrium and what happens when life’s big goal begins to slip away.
GO! THE MUSICAL will be directed by Nick Bond, music direction by Ben Barrow, movement direction by Sinead Donnelly, design by Maya Heritage, casting director Ben Armstrong, production manager Katie Harrison and arrangements & orchestration by Ben Barrow.
GO! THE MUSICAL has music & lyrics by Adam Taylor, with a book by Adam Taylor and Mikhal Taylor.
GO! THE MUSICAL will play Upstairs at the Gatehouse, running from 23rd – 28th July 2024, with tickets on sale now.
