⭐ GEORGE TAKEI’S ALLEGIANCE – UK PREMIERE ANNOUNCED – STARRING GEORGE TAKEI & TELLY LEUNG ⭐
Legendary TV and film star George Takei will make his London stage debut in the UK Premiere of his Broadway Musical George Takei’s Allegiance, it has been announced.
Now Allegiance gets a new and more intimate production for the UK, conceived specifically for the Off West End space at Charing Cross Theatre, directed and choreographed by Tara Overfield Wilkinson (Little Shop of Horrors, Come From Away).
Also joining Takei from the 2015 Broadway production of Allegiance is US actor and Broadway star Telly Leung, best known to UK audiences from Glee and to Broadway audiences for the title role in Disney’s Aladdin.
Californian born Takei and his family were placed behind barbed-wired enclosures of United States internment camps along with 120,000 other Japanese Americans. He spent years of his childhood at camp Rohwer in the swamps of Arkansas and at wind-swept Camp Tule in northern California.
This newly reconceived UK production of Allegiance will also feature musical supervision and orchestrations by Andrew Hilton and Charlie Ingles, lighting design by Nic Farman, sound design by Chris Whybrow and casting by Sarah Leung Casting.
Further casting and creative team to be announced.
George Takei’s Allegiance has a book by Marc Acito, Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione with music and lyrics by Jay Kuo.
George Takei’s Allegiance will play the Charing Cross Theatre, running from 7th January – 8th April 2023, with tickets on sale now.
