Casting has been announced for the Irish premiere of the award-winning musical Fun Home.

Starring Frances McNamee (Girl from The North Country) as adult Alison Bechdel, Killian Donnelly as Bruce Bechdel and Orla Scally as Medium Alison.

Also starring Nichola MacEvilly as Helen Bechdel, Jade Kennedy as Joan, and Riaín Cash as Roy/Mark/Pete/Bobby Jeremy.

Winner of five Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Original Score, the Gate Theatre is proud to present the Irish Premiere of Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron’s Fun Home, adapted from the acclaimed graphic novel by Alison Bechdel.

After the sudden death of her father, graphic novelist Alison is forced to confront long-hidden familial secrets that come to light. Fun Home features Alison both past and present: her memories as a child playing in the family’s funeral home merge with her time as a college student coming out and finding first love, and her adult life as a successful graphic novelist.

Directed by Róisín McBrinn, with set design by Paul Wills, costume design by Lara Campbell, lighting design by Sinéad McKenna, sound design by Jody Trehy & Jason Fallom, choreography by Jennifer Rooney, musical direction by David Hayes.

Fun Home features music by Jeanine Tesori, with book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, and is adapted from the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel.

Fun Home is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd.

Fun Home will play the Gate Theatre – Dublin, running from 1st July – 26th August 2023, with tickets on sale now.
