EAST IS EAST REVIVAL ANNOUNCED FOR BIRMINGHAM REP

⭐ EAST IS EAST REVIVAL ANNOUNCED FOR BIRMINGHAM REP ⭐

A new revival of the classic play East Is East has been announced for the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

Artistic Director, Sean Foley has today announced his programme for the 50th anniversary season of Birmingham Repertory Theatre in its current home on Centenary Square.

Opening the celebratory season is the smash-hit play East Is East, which returns home 25 years after premiering on The REP’s stage in 1996. Since then, East Is East has sold out three London runs, been adapted into a BAFTA Award-winning film and become a modern classic of comic-drama. Rediscover this joyous play where it all began.

In 1971 Salford fish-and-chip shop owner George Khan expects his family to follow his strict Pakistani Muslim ways. But his children, with an English mother and having been born and brought up in Britain, increasingly see themselves as British and start to reject their father’s rules on dress, food, religion, and living in general.

East Is East is a play by Ayub Khan-Din, first produced by Tamasha Theatre Company in co-production with the Royal Court and Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

Tickets go on general sale from 30th April 2021 – 10am at birmingham-rep.co.uk.

East Is East will play the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, running from 4th – 25th September 2021.
