Initial casting has been revealed for Quick Fantastic’s community theatre production of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE.
Leading the production are Alastair Brookshaw starring as George, with Laura Sillett starring as Dot/Marie.
On a Sunday afternoon on La Grande Jatte, French artist George Seurat is hoping to find the inspiration to create a masterpiece. As the piece comes together, the people come alive; his mother, his friends, his critics, the woman he loves. Stroke by stroke, dot by dot, will George create something lasting, something new?
Recipient of the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE is a shimmering musical celebration of “the art of making art.”
Quick Fantastic is thrilled to be performing at The Mill Studio for the first time having most recently staged community theatre productions in Guildford of The Railway Children and The Bridges Of Madison County.
This amateur production will be directed by Charlotte Conquest, with musical direction by Alex Parker and musical staging by Joanna Goodwin.
SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE has music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, with a book by James Lapine. Originally directed on Broadway by James Lapine.
SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE will play The Mill Studio, at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford, running from 13th – 23rd September 2023, with tickets on sale now.
