⭐ AARON TVEIT, LEA MICHELE & NICHOLAS CHRISTOPHER TO LEAD FIRST-EVER BROADWAY REVIVAL OF CHESS – THE MUSICAL ⭐
The first-ever Broadway revival of the iconic musical CHESS has been announced.
The revival is set to premiere in Fall 2025 at a Shubert theater to be announced.
CHESS will star Tony Award winner Aaron Tveit (Moulin Rouge!) as Freddie Trumper, Emmy Award nominee Lea Michele (Funny Girl) as Florence Vassey and Nicholas Christopher (Sweeney Todd) as Anatoly Sergievsky.
It’s America versus Russia at the World Chess Championship, where the espionage and romance are as complicated and exhilarating as the game itself. For the two players and the woman torn between them, everything—personal, professional, and political—is at risk… and nobody’s rules are the same.
This new production will be directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) and be choreographed by Drama Desk Award nominee Lorin Latarro (Waitress), with music supervision by Brian Usifer.
CHESS features a legendary score by ABBA’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, lyrics by Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winner Tim Rice (Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar) and a new book by Emmy winner Danny Strong (Dopesick, The Butler).
Dates, on sale and theater information, additional casting and creative team will be announced shortly.
