⭐ 17 AGAIN – STAGE MUSICAL ADAPTATION – WORLD PREMIERE ANNOUNCED ⭐
The stage musical adaptation of the film 17 Again, will have its world premiere in Japan, it has been announced.
The new musical will have its world premiere in Tokyo in May 2021, with the Japanese production being translated & directed by Kenichi Tani.
The show, which has been in development for several years, has previously had multiple industry readings in the US, featuring among others, Darren Criss and direction & choreography from Adam Shankman (Hairspray film).
This new musical – based on the popular 2009 film starring Zac Efron and Matthew Perry – tells the story of a married 35-year-old man who fears his best days have passed him by, until he mysteriously wakes up as a seventeen-year-old high school basketball star with the chance to rewrite the future he believes he was meant to have.
17 Again – The Musical has music & lyrics by Alan Zachary & Michael Weiner (First Date) and a book by Marco Pennette (TV’s Ugly Betty, Mom).
Really interesting to see the development of a show, which can take years before a major production is mounted. I wonder if this show will end up coming to the West End or Broadway eventually?
