⭐ GODSPELL OFF-WEST END REVIVAL ANNOUNCED FOR 2021 ⭐
A new off-West End revival of Godspell will take place next year, it has been announced.
Godspell, based on stories and parables from the Gospel of Matthew, follows the last week of Jesus’ life prior to his crucifixion as he tries to teach a lost community of disciples the concept of trust, pure love, compassion and friendship in order to build a brighter future.
Known for its incredible upbeat rock and gospel score by Broadway legend Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and featuring such songs as ‘Day by Day’, ‘All Good Gifts’ and ‘Beautiful City’, this newly revised version of Godspell was originally the collaborative creation of a group of Carnegie Mellon University students led by director and original writer John-Michael Tebelak in the early 1970s before becoming a critically acclaimed world phenomenon.
The creative team consists of Brendan Matthew (Director), Benjamin Levy (Musical Director), Laura Hyde & Connor Lewis (Choreographers), Ashen Gupta (Associate Director/Stage Manager), Jack Jury (Production Manager), Justin Williams (Set Design), Amelia Brightman (Costume Design), Holly Brightman (Lighting Design) and Daniel Mawson (Sound Design).
Produced by Brendan Matthew, Laura Hyde & Laurel Dougall for CR8TRACT Theatre.
Godspell will play the Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre from 12th – 29th May 2021.
