⭐ BLACK WIDOWS – NEW MUSICAL – CONCEPT ALBUM ANNOUNCED ⭐
Black Widows, a brand new, one-act, dark comedy musical written entirely in lockdown is coming to life as a concept album, it has been announced.
With music ranging from country ballads to big brass numbers, Black Widows tells the story of five murderous, flawed, yet loveable women enduring their life sentences together in a run down, British
prison. In their dark, dingy cell, with rowdy neighbours and hidden secrets, the girls of cell 7A open up to their newest inmate.
Inspired by the sharp increase in domestic abuse cases in the UK caused by the lockdown, this is a musical written for the moment, the changing tides, the new normal. Until the time comes where we can finally return to theatres, Black Widows is being developed and released with accessibility in mind.
The cast for the concept album are Melanie Bright (Jesus Christ Superstar), Lois Morgan Gay (The Pirate Queen), Joely Barbour (Gretel! – A New Musical) and Amelia Treble (Ghost the Musical), Becca Sharp (Luv Esther) and Kody Mortimer.
The newly-announced cast are currently in rehearsal ahead of recording the concept album.
Black Widows is written by Natalia Lewis, Jack Millier & Elin Miles.
