ANDREW WRIGHT TO DIRECT & CHOREOGRAPH COMMUNITY THEATRE PRODUCTION OF FOLLIES

⭐ ANDREW WRIGHT TO DIRECT & CHOREOGRAPH COMMUNITY THEATRE PRODUCTION OF FOLLIES ⭐

Olivier Award-nominated choreographer Andrew Wright is to direct and choreograph a community theatre production of Follies, it has been announced.

This production will be staged by the Glastonbury & Street Musical Comedy Society, who for nearly 100 years have been entertaining audiences with their award-winning musicals and pantomimes.

Wright commented “Community theatre has never been so important. I’m very much looking forward to working on this masterpiece with the brilliant folk of Somerset”

Wright is a Olivier Award-nominated choreographer, nominated for his work on Singin’ In The Rain and Half A Sixpence.

A true theatrical event, this legendary masterpiece is considered by many to be the greatest musical ever created. Surreal, sophisticated, compelling, heart wrenching and epic in scope, Follies by musical theatre legend Stephen Sondheim and author James Goldman, uses the musical theatre as a metaphor for the collapse of American innocence in the post-Kennedy years.

In Follies the time is 1971, and theatrical impresario Dimitri Weissmann hosts a reunion of ex-Follies performers in his crumbling theatre, setting the stage for a parade of brilliant pastiche numbers, including “Losing My Mind,” “I’m Still Here,” and “Broadway Baby.” Amid the reminiscing, two middle-aged couples confront some unpleasant truths about their past and present, and come face to face with the future.

Follies will be playing at Somerset’s Strode Theatre from 5th – 9th April 2022.

How wonderful! ! !

I love community theatre and I’m nearby in Bristol, so I will definitely be taking a trip to see this! ! !
