⭐ HERCULES STAGE MUSICAL TO RETURN ⭐
Alan Menken has confirmed that he is working on an extended stage run of the stage musical adaptation of Disney’s Hercules.
He confirmed the news whilst appearing on the special one-off return of The Rosie O’Donnell Show, a live benefit which raised over half a million dollars for The Actors Fund.
The stage musical adaptation of Hercules played a limited run at the open-air Delacorte Theater in Central Park in August 2019.
The show’s team said there were no plans for a larger run, at the time, though many were sceptical of those claims, with good reason it seems.
The show featured five new songs from Menken and original lyricist David Zippel, including “A Cool Day in Hell” a comedic number from the show’s villain, Hades, played by Roger Bart, the actor who sang for Hercules in the original animated film.
Menken is also currently working on the new live-action Little Mermaid remake and co-wrote four additional songs with Lin-Manuel Miranda, working on an unnamed Broadway show and working on the music for an Enchanted sequel, Disenchanted.
Alan Menken is one busy guy. Super excited for the future developments of this show.
