Divina de Campo will star in the London premiere of AMANDA – THE NIGHT BEFORE ME has been announced.
AMANDA – THE NIGHT BEFORE ME will make its London premiere at the intimate, award-winning, Off-West End venue – The Bridge House Theatre, this Autumn.
Belgian artist Rory Six created AMANDA – THE NIGHT BEFORE ME, based on the real and deeply personal stories he shared with his trans friend Sophie Giller. Rory’s passionate belief in this show turned it into a word-of-mouth sensation in the German-speaking musical world – played by legends including Pia Douwes, Mark Seibert, Drew Sarich and Rob Pelzer.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK runner-up and one of the most exciting musical theatre voices of her generation, Divina de Campo (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Chicago) is the first non-binary artist to take on the role of Amanda in this English-language version.
During her gender affirming surgery, Amanda relives her entire life in a powerful musical monologue. Hidden dreams, familiar lies, forbidden love and hard-won freedom unfold in a dazzling, witty and deeply moving musical monologue.
With unflinching honesty, profound humour and a soaring original score by Rory Six, with English lyrics by Charles Hart (The Phantom of the Opera), AMANDA – THE NIGHT BEFORE ME explores the cost of silence, the power of hidden dreams and the radiant joy of finally claiming your truth.
