A new Off-West End revival of Alan Bennett’s THE HISTORY BOYS has been announced.
Marking the London debut of Australian theatre group Glassroom Company, this new, swirling production of Alan Bennett’s modern classic explores how we preserve memory, and the shaping forces of education and adolescence.
Eight boys in pursuit of sex, sport, and a spot at Oxbridge. Four teachers with distinctly different approaches. One moment in time. The chasm between school and university – between boyhood and becoming.
Starring Amaan Patel as Akthar, Ben Harvey as Timms, Duncan Hess as Hector, Isaac Green as Crowther, Jack Calver as Posner, Jake Dove as Dakin, James Mace as Lockwood, Jamie Coll as Rudge, Joshua Hogan as Scripps, Leonardo Shaw as Irwin, Stefan Brennan-Healy as Headmaster Felix and Susannah May as Mrs Lintott.
First staged at the National Theatre in 2004, THE HISTORY BOYS has gone on to become one of the most celebrated plays of the 21st century, enchanting audiences across the world. Alan Bennett, one of the country’s most admired and enduring playwrights, has been a defining voice on the British stage for over five decades. His wide-ranging body of work includes Habeas Corpus, Single Spies, The Madness of George III, Talking Heads and The Lady in the Van.
This production will be directed by Florence Carr-Jones, featuring design by Miranda Cattermole, lighting design by Jacob Henney, composer & musical direction by Georgia Gabrielides, sound design by Rafael Solimeno-Harris, deputy stage management by Ash Purt, assistant stage management by Carly Hendricks, movement direction by Greta Abbey and produced by Jack Calver & Emilia Woodgate.
THE HISTORY BOYS will play the Old Red Lion Pub & Playhouse, London, running from 14th – 25th April 2026, with tickets on sale now.
