The cast for the UK premiere of new musical ROCK & ROLL MAN has been announced.
This bold new musical celebrates the life and legacy of Alan Freed, the Cleveland DJ who coined the term “rock & roll” and transformed music history forever. More than an innovator, Freed shattered barriers, uniting artists and audiences across racial lines through the power of music. A fearless visionary and rebel, he sparked a cultural revolution that helped pave the way towards desegregation.
Tony Award nominated Constantine Maroulis will star as DJ Alan Freed, alongside Gary Turner as Leo Mintz/Morris Levey, Jairus McClanahan as Little Richard, Joey James as Chuck Berry, Marquie Hairston as Frankie Lymon, Cherece Richards as LaVern Baker, Joe Bence as Buddy Holly, Mark Pearce as J. Edgar Hoover, Dominique Scott as Jerry Lee Lewis/Musical Director and Anton Stephans as Bo Diddley.
Featuring Shelby Speed, Xorael Harrison, Jessica Ncube and Grant Zavitkovsky.

ROCK & ROLL MAN is a high-octane celebration of the sound, the struggle and the cultural revolution that changed music, and society, forever. This is the original musical about a musical original – the man who gave rock & roll its name and inspired the generation that changed society forever.
ROCK & ROLL MAN is directed by Tony Award nominee Randal Myler, featuring choreography by Stephanie Klemons, associate choreography by Christian Knight, design by Morgan Large, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, sound design by Tony Gayle and casting direction by Harry Blumenau CDG.

ROCK & ROLL MAN will open at Salisbury Playhouse, running from 13th February – 7th March 2026, followed by Theatre Royal Windsor (10th – 14th March), Cambridge Arts Theatre (16th – 21st March) and Lighthouse, Poole (23rd – 28th March).
