Casting has been announced for the Belgian premiere of the musical TICK, TICK… BOOM!
The Belgian premiere of TICK, TICK… BOOM! will be heading to The Bridge Theatre, in Brussels, presented in English.
TICK, TICK… BOOM! will star Djavan van de Fliert (Frozen, Les Misérables) as Jon, Dan Buckley (The Frogs, Fisherman Friend’s – The Musical) as Michael and Laura Marie Benson (Madagascar The Musical, Sister Act – The Musical) as Susan.
TICK, TICK… BOOM! is a raw and deeply human musical by Jonathan Larson, the creator of the musical theatre smash hit RENT. It’s 1990 in New York City, and Jon is on the brink of turning 30. He’s waiting tables while trying to finish the musical he believes could change everything. But time is running out—and life isn’t waiting. His girlfriend wants to leave the city for a quieter life, his best friend is thriving in a corporate job, and Jon is stuck in between: stay and risk everything for a dream that may never come true, or walk away before it’s too late.
This semi-autobiographical story pulses with ambition, fear, and the relentless pressure of unrealized potential. Fueled by a driving rock score and Larson’s unmistakable voice, TICK, TICK… BOOM! isn’t just a musical— it’s a gripping, exhilarating dive into the countdown to a breakthrough, or a breakdown.
The production will be directed & choreographed by Ewan Jones, featuring musical supervision by Mal Hall, design by Stewart J Charlesworth, lighting design by Ben Jacobs, musical direction by Pietro Ramman, sound design by Vincent Debongnie, production management by Steve Bree, sound engineering by Casper Le Compte and stage management by Sophie Lovelace. The band will feature Wout de Vocht (Guitar), Rafael de Smet (Bass) and Bram Iven (Drums).
TICK, TICK… BOOM! has a book, music & lyrics by Jonathan Larson, with script consultant David Auburn and vocal arrangements & orchestrations by Stephen Oremus.
TICK, TICK… BOOM! will play Bridge Theatre, Stassart House, Brussels, running from 14th October – 2nd November 2025, with tickets on sale now.
