⭐ INTO THE WOODS – NYMT – ANNOUNCED FOR SOUTHWARK PLAYHOUSE ELEPHANT – SUMMER 2024 ⭐
The National Youth Music Theatre has announced a production of INTO THE WOODS coming to the Southwark Playhouse Elephant.
The musical was announced as part of the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT) 2024 summer season, which will debut at Southwark Playhouse Elephant, performed by the remarkable Young Company Members of NYMT 2024, who are 10 – 23 years old.
As champions of Stephen Sondheim’s work, NYMT are excited to present INTO THE WOODS, his collaboration with James Lapine: an innovative and intricate retelling of well known storybook characters. This thought-provoking allegory is relevant for audiences of all ages through the ages, and is widely regarded as a modern classic.
The Tony Award-winning book and score are enchanting in their poignancy, touching on the universal themes of family and friendship; love and loyalty; belonging and betrayal.
INTO THE WOODS will be directed by Jake Smith, featuring choreography by Denni Sayers, musical direction by Nick Chave, design by Libby Todd, lighting design by Aaron Dootson and sound design by Josh Robins.
INTO THE WOODS has music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine. Originally directed on Broadway by James Lapine. Orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick.
INTO THE WOODS will play the Southwark Playhouse Elephant, running from 9th – 11th August 2024, with tickets on sale now.
