⭐ CABLE STREET – A NEW MUSICAL – NEW RUN ANNOUNCED FOR SOUTHWARK PLAYHOUSE ELEPHANT – SEPTEMBER 2024 ⭐
The critically-acclaimed new British musical CABLE STREET will return for a new run this Autumn, it has been announced.
After a recent sold-out run at the Southwark Playhouse Borough, CABLE STREET is set to return for a new run at the Southwark Playhouse Elephant, later this year.
CABLE STREET tells the story of the people of the East End and their community solidarity in 1936, as three young impoverished British workers: 19 year old Jewish lad Sammy, Mairead a feisty Irish Catholic baker, and Ron a recent arrival to Cable Street but a Lancastrian born and bred – all try to find work and passionately live their lives in the multi-cultural melting pot that was, and still is, Cable Street E1.
Their lives would change forever on Sunday 4th October 1936, when the East End showed its powerful ability to unite in the face of adversity as the Battle of Cable Street was fought and won – but which side will the youngsters and their families be fighting on?
CABLE STREET is a powerful musical showing how a disparate group of people can unite to stand against fascism – and to make a difference.
The musical will by directed by Adam Lenson, featuring associate director Jamie Buller, choreography by Jevan-Howard Jones, musical supervision by Tamara Saringer, orchestrations & arrangements by Tim Gilvin, set design by Yoav Segal, costume design by Lu Herbert, lighting design by Sam Waddington, dramaturg Olivia Mace, casting director Sarah Leung, and produced by Dylan Schlosberg’s 10 to 4 Productions and Neil Marcus.
CABLE STREET is written by Alex Kanefsky, with music & lyrics by Tim Gilvin.
CABLE STREET will play Southwark Playhouse Elephant, running from 6th September – 10th October 2024.
