⭐ BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL – FILM ADAPTATION TEASED ⭐
A film adaptation of the critically-acclaimed Billy Elliot The Musical has been teased.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Working Title co-chairman Eric Fellner, teased the possibility of doing a film adaptation of the musical.
When asked, Fellner confirmed that the film musical: “Is still just an idea that we sometimes talk about. Let’s see”.
The musical first premiered at London’s Victoria Palace Theatre in 2005 and went on to win a host of international awards, including four Laurence Olivier Awards and ten Tony Awards.
Set in a northern town during the miners’ strike of 1984/5, the show follows Billy’s journey from boxing ring to ballet class where he discovers a passion for dance that unites his family, inspires his community and changes his life forever.
Billy Elliot The Musical features music from Elton John with a book & lyrics by Lee Hall. Based on Stephen Daldry’s BAFTA-winning 2000 film starring Jamie Bell and Julie Walters.
