The Théâtre du Châtelet production of 42nd Street is set to return later this year, it has been announced.

The show will return to the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris this December for a strictly limited run.

The critically acclaimed production, directed & choreographed by Stephen Mear, originally staged in 2016, was previously set to return in 2021 but was postponed due to the global pandemic.

Based on the 1932 novel by Bradford Ropes (which was subsequently adapted for the silver screen the following year), 42nd Street tells of the great director Julian Marsh and his upcoming production of the musical Pretty Lady. But when the show’s star is forced to drop out of the production, Marsh calls on unknown chorus girl Peggy Sawyer, who takes to the stage a “youngster” and comes back a “star”.

Featuring a classic score of musical theatre standards including “We’re in the Money”, “Lullaby of Broadway”, “42nd Street” and “About a Quarter to Nine”.

The show is presented in English with French and English subtitles.

42nd Street has a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, lyrics by Al Dubin and Johnny Mercer, and music by Harry Warren.

42nd Street will play the Théâtre du Châtelet, in Paris, running from 7th December 2022 – 15th January 2023, with tickets on sale now.
