⭐ THE KARATE KID MUSICAL ADAPTATION ANNOUNCED ⭐
A stage musical adaptation of the much-loved 1984 movie, The Karate Kid, has been announced to be in development.
Robert Mark Kamen, who wrote the original film screenplay for The Karate Kid, is writing the book, while composer Drew Gasparini (We Aren’t Kids Anymore) will be writing the show’s music & lyrics.
Also joining the creative team is director Amon Miyamoto (2004’s Pacific Overtures), husband-and-wife choreographers Keone and Mari Madrid (the upcoming Britney musical – Once Upon a One More Time) and Tony-winning set designer Derek McLane.
No further details or a production timeline for the Broadway-aimed project, have been revealed.
The musical will be produced by Kinoshita Group, Kumiko Yoshii, and Michael Wolk.
Now this is not a film, I thought was dying for a musical adaptation. Happy to be proven wrong.
