⭐ BEN PLATT GIVES UPDATE ON DEAR EVAN HANSEN FILM ⭐
Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt has given an update on the highly anticipated film adaptation of Tony-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen.
Platt spoke to James Corden recently, where he revealed he would shortly be travelling to Georgia to begin shooting, where they will be filming for the next couple of months.
When asked about what changes we could expect from the transition from stage to screen, Platt commented:
“Well I don’t want to say too much before it’s made, because who knows what will stay of course but certainly honours all the large picture things in the show…most of the songs and larger story are very much intact and all of the characters are intact.
I guess if anything macro is different… We just get to fill out the world a little more and really see what the school is like…really see what the kids at the school are like…what their families are like in their homes and how they’re different in terms of their upbringings.
You get a little bit more of a personal insight into Evan and in ways you don’t in the show, because you know only, when he’s really singing…speaking and performing, do you get to kind of see who he is. But the nice thing about being on film is you kind of spend…the whole film in my mind, in the sense you’re very close with me. So hopefully I can communicate some stuff a little easier than on stage…I think any fan of the musical…I’m very hopeful, will be very pleased with the film.”
Dear Evan Hansen will have a script by Steven Levenson, who wrote the book for the stage, music and lyrics by Academy Award-winning duo Benj Pasek & Justin Paul and be directed by Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower).
Very exciting times! ! ! Can wait to see it on the big screen! ! !
