⭐ THE COLOR PURPLE – UK TOUR ANNOUNCED ⭐

The critically acclaimed Birmingham Hippodrome & Curve Leicester co-production of The Color Purple will head out on tour, it has been announced.

The UK tour will open at Birmingham Hippodrome (13th – 17th September 2022), before visiting Theatre Royal Plymouth (27th September – 1st October), Royal & Derngate Northampton (4th – 8th October), The Lowry in Salford (11th – 15th October), Wales Millennium Centre (18th – 22nd October), Mayflower Theatre Southampton (25th – 29th October), finishing its run at Norwich Theatre Royal (1st – 5th November).

This unforgettable story told over the course of 40 years follows tormented heroine Celie, as she journeys through joy, despair, anguish and hope in her own personal awakening to discover her unique voice in the world.

This moving family chronicle set in racially divided southern America, celebrates life, love and the strength to stand up for who you are and what you believe in.

With a profoundly evocative score drawing inspiration from jazz, ragtime, gospel and blues, this landmark musical is directed by Tinuke Craig, winner of the 2014 Genesis Future Directors Award.

The Color Purple has a book by Marsha Norman, music & lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray. Based on the Pulitzer prize-winning novel by Alice Walker, the classic hit movie and the Tony Award-winning production on Broadway.
