The long-rumoured Broadway revival of Funny Girl seems to finally be happening in 2022, it has been revealed.

According to an Equity casting call, the production is aiming to begin performances from 2nd April 2022.

Also according to the casting call, the roles of Fanny Brice and Nick Arnstein have already been cast, but all other roles are open at this time.

There are rumoured names swirling around the internet about who has reportedly been cast. Tipped to lead the Broadway revival are Booksmart star Beanie Feldstein as Fanny Brice with Broadway & West End star Ramin Karimloo as Nick Arnstein.

The Broadway revival of Funny Girl is set to be directed by Michael Mayer, with Michael Rafter as music director, choreography by Ellenore Scott with tap choreography by Ayodele Casel and casting by Jim Carnahan.

Funny Girl has a book by Isobel Lennart, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Bob Merrill. The semi-biographical plot is based on the life and career of Broadway star, film actress and comedian Fanny Brice featuring her stormy relationship with entrepreneur and gambler Nick Arnstein. The original Broadway production catapulted Barbra Streisand to super-stardom, who also went on to star in the Oscar-winning film adaptation.

Now these are just heavily rumoured names, nothing is of course official but would be very interesting choices, if true. Who would you like to see cast in this highly anticipated revival?
